Young People: Better With Skills
Knit Together Initiative has been implementing “Young people: Better With Skills” program in Rivers State. Using young people centered program design, KTI organizes panels, safe space meetings, and community events.
This is a quarterly program hosted by Knit Together Initiative. It is still within its one year of implementation with fifty young people including students from tertiary institutions as beneficiaries. The program focused on developing the leadership, public speaking, storytelling, advocacy and accountability skills, so that they can become valuable community leaders. The most valuable outcome of this program is young people’s ability to demand for greater participation in decision-making in the state.
The goal is to identify and promote alternative path-way.
Success is self-defined. The secret to flourishing economies is largely due to the entrepreneurial skills possessed by some citizens, particularly young people, and these skills aid the creation of more job opportunities. Young people represent the un-engaged, under-utilized active workforce. Young people must not be referred as the leaders of tomorrow but the leaders of today. Times have changed, and it is only when the entrepreneurial spirit is embraced, then can any nation move forward. The solution to unemployment and poverty eradication includes investment in youth entrepreneurship.
